About Bill Wilson
His illustration career has been very diverse. He’s done murals for organizations like the
Mississippi Opera. He has been a courtroom artist and is an active political cartoonist.
Ten years ago he and his family founded Hapax Creative Production Company. Through
it they have produced and helped create movies and television commercials for Sony,
Paramount, Warner Brothers and many more. Although he’s worked in numerous
positions both in front of and behind the camera, Mr. Wilson focuses predominantly on
concept design, storyboarding and general illustration work in the entertainment
industry. He’s also done motion graphics and animation, designed and sculpted puppets
and actively sculpts in clay for his concept design work.
He has written and illustrated five children’s books with two more slated for release this
year.
He was Artist In Residence at the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion from 2017 to 2019. In
2019 he collaborated with then Governor Phil Bryant on a coffee table book featuring
the Governor’s memoirs and more than sixty plein air paintings by Mr. Wilson covering
the mansion. Mr. Wilson was granted unprecedented access and for over two and a half
year he painted from life both inside the mansion and on the mansion grounds. The
book The Governor’s Mansion: A Memoir Of The People’s House was published in 2020
by University Press of Mississippi.
He was the Founder, Creative Director and Illustrator for Pippin & Maxx Arts and
Entertainment. He was the Assistant Editor for Mississippi Aesthetic Magazine. And is
currently Art Director for The American Spectator Magazine.
He also has an active podcast and Youtube channel called TheArtThropologist. It’s
divided into painting and drawing demos as well as interviews with people from all
disciplines of the arts including artists like sculptor Jason Arkles in Florence, Italy and
personal friend and internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Kirstin Chavez.
